Recently, batches of Milky Way 12m octagonal tapered distribution steel poles have finished production and loading, and set off for Liberia for the LESSAP (Liberia Electricity Sector Strengthening and Access Project) implemented from 2021 to 2025. Jointly carried out by Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC) and Rural & Renewable Energy Agency (RREA), and funded by World Bank IDA, this project covers Greater Monrovia and surrounding counties. It focuses on rehabilitating aging lines and constructing new medium and low voltage distribution branches to improve regional power networks. Upon completion, the project will deliver stable power supply for over 120,000 households and small commercial users and ease local problems of power shortage and voltage fluctuation.
    Widely adopted in Liberia’s power distribution projects, local 12m polygonal hot-dip galvanized steel poles share highly consistent specifications with Milky Way 12m poles. Made of Q355 high-strength steel with hot-dip galvanized coating ≥86μm, the poles are manufactured in accordance with IEC international distribution standards to satisfy load and wind resistance requirements for local 11kV power grid. Optimized for Liberia’s coastal climate, the poles feature enhanced anti-corrosion performance to withstand high humidity, ocean salt fog and heavy rainfall in rainy seasons. Every pole undergoes non-destructive inspection, bending load and wind resistance tests before delivery with complete test reports. Products are packed with IPPC fumigated wooden skids complying with international maritime quarantine rules. Cargo is shipped directly to Monrovia Port, and transported to urban and rural construction sites by inland trucks after customs clearance.
    These Milky Way 12m power steel poles will replace aged damaged concrete poles and simple wooden poles, rehabilitate power infrastructure impaired by long-time conflicts, greatly improve anti-corrosion performance and reliability of distribution networks, expand electricity access, raise national electrification rate of Liberia, and lay solid power foundation for local livelihood improvement and grassroots economic growth.
