Recently, Milky Way Steel Pole Shandong Branch has finished the production and shipment of an order for African communication towers. Covering four commonly‑used height specifications of 30m, 36m, 50m and 60m, these products will be deployed for the construction of communications network infrastructure across multiple African countries.
    Product Adaptation for African Conditions
    The African continent features complex and diverse climates. Coastal and tropical rainforest areas suffer high humidity and high salinity, while some inland regions are exposed to intense ultraviolet radiation and large diurnal temperature variations, placing high demands on the anti‑corrosion performance and structural durability of communication towers.
    In response to such environmental characteristics, Milky Way Steel Pole has adopted the following targeted measures in the design and manufacture of this batch of products:
1. Thickened galvanized layer for extended anti‑corrosion service life
These communication towers are produced with hot‑dip galvanizing. The zinc coating thickness is kept above 86μm, exceeding conventional domestic standards. The thicker galvanized layer delivers longer‑lasting sacrificial anode protection under Africa’s high‑humidity and high‑salt‑fog conditions, slowing tower corrosion and reducing subsequent maintenance frequency.
2. Diversified specifications to meet requirements of various scenarios
The 30‑meter and 36‑meter models serve base‑station coverage in densely‑populated urban zones and hilly terrain; the 50‑meter and 60‑meter variants are intended for plains and remote areas to satisfy wider‑range signal transmission requirements. Standardized design of the four specifications enables flexible model selection according to terrain and unified spare‑parts management for customers.
3. Segmented flange‑connection tower structure fastened by high‑strength bolts for upper‑lower sections; no on‑site welding required
Advantages of this structure are as follows:
Controlled single‑piece shipping dimensions greatly cut costs for ocean freight and inland transshipment. On‑site erection can be completed with only small‑scale lifting equipment plus manual labour, with no heavy welding machinery needed — well suited to practical constraints including unstable power supply and limited construction conditions in parts of Africa. Precision‑machined flange surfaces guarantee coaxiality at joints for easier control of tower verticality after assembly. Bolted connections also facilitate disassembly and reuse for later‑stage maintenance or site relocation.
    Delivery and Quality Control
    Drawing on the complete local industrial chain for steel processing and hot‑dip galvanizing, the Shandong Branch implements full‑process quality tracking covering incoming raw‑material inspection, welding flaw detection and pre‑assembly of finished products. Pre‑assembly and spot‑checks of galvanized‑layer thickness have been completed before dispatch, ensuring one‑shot successful installation upon arrival at project sites.
